Educator. Wordsmith. Grammarian, Fitness Coach.. .and now, Published Author, Professor Jason Fletcher, or simply "Professor" as he is called by his many adoring students, has been an educator for twelve years.
Born and raised in Houston, he is a graduate of James Madison High School, where he was a drummajor, following in the footsteps of his mother Barbara and Aunt Brenda! He is a proud graduate of the Texas Southern University College of Education, where he received his degree in
interdisciplinary studies. Professor’s career began in the Houston Independent School District, most notably at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Early Childhood Center, the first all Pre-K campus in the district. While there, he penned the school’s official school song and quickly received
accolades on such websites as Greatschools.com.
No stranger to the arts, he is an accomplished actor, having appeared in many stage plays in the Houston area and abroad, including a starring role as Bro. Choir Director in the hit gospel comedy SHOUT! HALLELUJAH at Encore Theatre. He has also performed in numerous gospel choirs, including Chester D.T. Baldwin and The Music Ministry Mass Choir.
He is also very proud of his recent loss of over 125 pounds, the result of a total lifestyle change including a strict diet and exercise regimen. This has inspired others to follow his lead and he is humbled by those who seek his assistance in living a healthier lifestyle as well.
With the love and support of his family, Professor has published “JACQUES” a re-imagining of a time-honored folktale, which features all African –American characters. This, his first literary effort, contains expressions unique to our culture, an element he found to be lacking in most other children’s books. “JACQUES” will soon be available in paperback and digital formats around the world on Amazon.com and is poised to place him
amongst the world’s literary intelligentsia.
Professor is a proud and active member of the historic Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, led by Rev. Dr. Marcus D. Cosby, Senior Pastor. When asked what he attributes most to his success, his response is simple: “without God and my family…I AM NOTHING”…when asked about his future endeavors he replies “In the words of Michael Jackson, true education is the ability to watch the MASTERS atwork…so sit back…and watch me work!”
